Polyurethane foams are generally used for comfort, cushioning and protection. Generally, fabricated foams are those that you will find in furniture, bedding, egg-crate foam for packaging etc.

Polyurethane foams are available in a wide range of densities (weight per cubic foot) and IFD's (Indentation Load Deflection) which is basically how soft or how firm a foam is. Most polyurethane foams are also avalaible in colors and can be formulated to meet special specifications such as UL, California Tech Bulletin #117.
